Barcelona is a fantastic city for temporary living, whether you are coming to work or you are coming for studying. It is great. However, the laws and culture may be different in your country of residence. The confidence factor and relation tenant versus landlord may be somewhat surprising. For that reason, ByMonths have established a fair document check to which landlords have agreed. 

Documents required for booking accommodation.

1. For Students

Get your books.

Passport / NIE / ID (only for Spanish people) 

  • Permanent address (different to the one of the flat you want to book) 
  • European bank account (CEE) 
  • University or school registration letter or receipt (they need to be in English, Spanish or Catalan) 
  • Flights back home (only for non-European students)
2. Self-employed

Get the financials sorted.

Passport / NIE / ID (only for Spanish people) 

  • Permanent address (different to the one of the flat you want to book) 
  • European bank account (CEE) 
  • Copy of the latest income tax returns
  • Copy of the latest quarterly VAT settlements
  • Copy certifying payment of Social Security contributions (usually a bank receipt)
  • Bank or personal guarantee in case the above documents are not enough to access the home.
3. Company employee

Get HR involved or call the boss.

Passport / NIE / ID (only for Spanish people) 

  • Permanent address (different to the one of the flat you want to book) 
  • European bank account (CEE) 
  • Copy of the latest income tax returns
  • Copy of the work contract
  • Copy of last three months payrolls

That said, all requests are considered case by case and final acceptation is done by the landlord themselves. We cannot guarantee that you, even after, handing in all your documentation, will be approved to rent a place. We will always do our utmost to make sure you can rent your chosen accommodation but have no saying in it nor take responsibility. All amounts paid will be returned if rejected.
